OUR PURPOSE IS TO PROVIDE SUPPORT FOR FAMILIES

Healthy Families believes that  being a parent is the toughest, yet most important job you will ever have. All parents need support & encouragement as they care for their children. We also believe that parenting can be a wonderful experience for you and your new baby. At times, parenting can have many challenges. That’s why we are here for you. HEALTHY FAMILIES IS A VOLUNTARY SERVICE AT NO COST TO YOU.

Who is Eligible?

• Expectant parents living in Boone, Montgomery, Owen or Putnam Counties.
• Parents of newborns under the age of 3 months. Low-income families of any race, culture, religion or sexual orientation.
• Parents who are interested in receiving information about the community.
• Parents who would like to know more about child development and related topics.

Healthy Families is a Voluntary Service at no Cost to You

Our staff will bring you a FREE GIFT BAG with items for you and your baby as well as information on local resources for you and your family. We also provide you with great information on pregnancy, childhood development, breastfeeding, bonding, discipline, health issues, along with any other needs that a new family would have at this essential time in their life.

Healthy Families Offers

• A one time visit to bring you a free gift bag with items for you and your baby and information on local resources.
• A one time visit to give you the opportunity to ask questions, talk about your pregnancy, and talk about your new baby and how it has impacted your life.
• If you are interested and want more support, Healthy Families will offer you personal, weekly home visits by a trained individual who will bring you information based on your needs regarding your pregnancy and newborn.

Our referrals come from a variety of sources. Anyone can call and make a referral, in fact, we often receive self-referrals. Once a referral is received, a Family Support Specialist (FSS) will arrange for an appointment to meet with the family in their home or in the hospital.
