About Us

In 1976, Family Support Services of West Central Indiana was founded under the name Putnam County Family Support Services, Inc., (PCFSS) as a not-for-profit organization providing services to Putnam, Owen, Clay, Montgomery and Boone Counties with a mission to prevent child abuse, neglect and domestic violence through education, guidance, intervention and supportive services. Since the inception of our organization, core services provided include home visitation for families at risk for child abuse, advocacy services for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault, free child care designed to alleviate stressors for families, community education and outreach, public awareness, prevention programming, training of professionals, and information and referral services.

Currently, we serve Putnam, Owen, Clay, Montgomery, Parke, and Boone counties. Our organization is still dedicated to preventing child abuse, supporting new families, and responding to the critical needs of primary and secondary victims of violence. We are committed to addressing the emotional and physical needs of victims of domestic violence and sexual assault, and providing county-wide prevention programming. This comprehensive approach increases protective factors, improves social norms, and assists victims and their children to achieve safety, while also providing them with advocacy, life skills education, and connection to essential resources.

Each year, Family Support Services of West Central Indiana serves over 1,000 families through our Domestic Violence/Sexual Assault Prevention and Intervention Program, Healthy Families Program, and other outreach initiatives.
