To prevent violence by increasing emotional health and connectedness in the Putnam County community
Putnam County is a safe, stable, nurturing community in which all voices are heard, respected, and valued.
The CDC’s approach to preventing violence is to reduce risk factors and increase protective factors. A risk factor, when present, makes a person MORE likely to perpetrate violence. A protective factor, when present, makes a person LESS likely to perpetrate violence. Emotional health and connectedness are protective factors against the perpetration of several types of violence, like child abuse, elder abuse, intimate partner violence, sexual violence, and youth violence.
